HS Code requirement changes for CA International

Executive Summary

From 11th April 2025, 10-digit HS code will be required for cross-border shipments from Canada to the United States.

Changes

On the Create Order endpoint, entries in the parcel_contents list have a hs_code parameter. 6-digit HS codes are already required, but as of April 11th 2025 10-digit HS codes will be required when sending international parcels from Canada.

To continue sending internationally from Canada from April 11th 2025 onwards, senders must ensure their products include valid 10-digit HS codes information. After this date, if any entries under parcel_contents do not have valid 10-digit HS codes the order will return an error and fail to send.
